If you’re planning on travelling through various US states in your lifetime like we have, you’ll want to know some of the most exciting things to do. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to visit all 52 states during our last trip but here are 9 activities in 9 US states to get you started!
There are a multitude of amazing things to do in Florida, but we’re going with one of the least obvious. You can take a tram tour, or even brave the humidity and bike around the Everglades national park. There’s an observation tower there that you should spot halfway through. You’ll get an idea of just how many alligators have been lurking in the swamps during your time there once you climb! Scary but exciting.
In New Mexico you can head to the International Balloon Fiesta where you can watch Balloons glow in the night. This is the biggest balloon rally in the world, where hundreds of hot air balloons all take to the sky at the same time. They glow up at night and it’s truly a magical site to see!
In New York you can go wine tasting on Long Island’s North Fork, but don’t forget to enjoy a pie while you’re there! There are 30 amazing wineries close to the city, and they’re very cheap to visit, too. Even those who aren’t fans of pie will love the Strawberry pie.
Love books? Head to Oregon and get lost in Powell’s city of books. This is a bookstore in Portland that says it’s one of the largest in the world. It has nine colour-coded rooms, so you can make your mind up about this one!
Dollywood is a must. You’ll get an all out Tennessee experience here, especially in the park Pigeon Forge. This run by Dolly Parton and Herschend Family Entertainment. You don’t even have to be a Dolly Parton fan, as you can enjoy food and water slides too.
In Utah, try heading to Delicate Arch, which is the most famous sandstone formation in Arches National park. You might notice it’s the same one on Utah’s license plates. The Olympic torch passed through here in 2002, so it’s a beautiful, historic hike to take. When you’re done you can head back to a place like Marriott’s Mountain Side for pure relaxation.
If you’re in Virginia, head to see a film at the Byrd Theatre in Carytown. This place is a beautiful shopping district that shows glamorous, vintage films and has been doing so for over 90 years. You can hear an organ performance before your movie on Saturdays! Tickets are cheap, so you’ll have lots left over for snacks.
Cheyenne frontier days will give you a feel for the state’s incredible scenery. You can go to a 10-day rodeo event that offers visitors things like free pancakes for breakfasts and concerts from music stars.
